 About Me

Hello!

My name is Garret. I’m a videographer/photographer based in Seattle, Washington. My visual work is rooted in the outdoors, and I tend to focus especially on telling stories centered around adventure, landscapes, and action sports.

I started working as a filmmaker about ten years ago when I founded Chairlift Productions, a video production company that created highlight reels for skiers, mountain bikers, kayakers, and other athletes looking to gain more recognition. (“Company” is a bit of a stretch — I was only in high school so it was mostly just me filming my friends and having a good time — but it was the start of something!) I really enjoyed the process of filming these visually appealing sports, and then editing the clips to fit the music I’d chosen. It gave me the ability to communicate what was in my mind’s eye, while also getting the opportunity to explore beautiful outdoor spaces.

My creative scope has expanded significantly since those early days, and I now work full time as a freelance filmmaker and photographer. Although I shoot a wider range of subjects than I used to, my general interest in and commitment to telling outdoor-related stories remains the same.

In 2021 I earned bachelor’s degrees from the University of Oregon in both journalism and cinema studies. During my time as a student there I also worked as the senior assistant videographer and photographer for the university’s marketing team. After graduating I moved to Seattle and spent a year working as the digital media coordinator for The Summit at Snoqualmie (Seattle’s local ski mountain), and then jumped into full-time freelance work.

I am available for hire for any video and/or photo projects. Please see the Contact page to get in touch!
